Who I Am (and why I think the way I do)

I am a fifty-something, moderately conservative, Christian, country girl and have been married to the same man (a retired Air Force Master Sergeant) for twenty-nine years.  I worked up until the day I gave birth then started a new career as a stay at home mom.  It wasn’t a modern or progressive choice, but I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do. Like many Americans, I am afraid for our future and frustrated with the system.  Our country is rolling like a snowball to hell toward a socialist society.   People seem OK with that, and I just don’t get it. How can the United States of America remain a beacon of hope to the world, if we lose that independent and resourceful spirit that made us a great nation.  I have a grown daughter and son and the county we are becoming is not the country I want them to live in.

I do not apologize for being an American.  I am proud of my husband’s military career and understand that there are ideals worth fighting and dying for.  I belive in common sense, hard work and personal responsibility.  I believe that you have the right not to worship God if you so choose, but you do not have the right to dictate when, where or how I choose to worship Him. I don’t believe we are the result of some cosmic accident, we were all created for noble purposes, though many choose not to embrace them.  I belive taking care of our planet is a moral obligation as stewards of the earth.  Not something we should be forced to do by people seeking to gain power over us.   I believe that we should live by the consequences of our choices, but we have all made mistakes, therefore,we should show compassion for one another. We should do this because it is right, not because we are compelled to by the government.

These are the values I have tried to instill in my children.  It has become more difficult. Everyday they are beguiled by the education system, the entertainment industry, technology and government officials.  All promising the hope of a society where in exchange for personal liberty, we can all live in a world where nobody works, yet everyone is fed.

I feel that it is my responsibility as a citizen of this country and as a mother, to expose the lie.  This is why I started this blog.  Not everything I write will be political.  There is humor in life and sometimes we need to laugh at it.  I’ll try to post weekly. Thanks for your support.
